The Coat Edit
Now that winter is truly on its way, it’s time to pack away the denim shorts and evaluate the warmer part of our wardrobes. The quickest way to a wardrobe update? A great coat! Coming off the heels of fashion month (and VAMFF if we’re thinking a bit more locally), there are plenty of great options to suit every body shape and every budget. Here are my favourite picks!
THE TRENCH
The humble trench coat is always a go-to for a quick update on a classic look. Worn perfectly with solid colour knits, denim and a boot, it’s an easy wearing style that you can keep coming back to throughout the cooler months. This season, I’m loving Country Road’s Soft Trench Coat, Lover’s Anise Satin Trench, and for an update on a classic, Michael Lo Sordo’s Relaxed Silk Trench Coat.
THE ULTIMATE WOOL COAT
While a little pricier than a trench, a wool coat is a definite investment piece you’ll never regret (especially in the height of winter!) This season, my favourite picks are Bianca Spender’s Fine Wool Aviator Coat, Elka Collective’s Tori Jacket and Witchery’s Wrap Trim Coat.
DUFFLE AND LONG LINE PUFFERS
Another great investment is a great duffle or puffer jacket. Perfect for the weekends, school runs, and to and from the gym, it’s an easy wearing style that can be as stylish as it is practical. I’m loving the Mid Length Puffer from Witchery (gorgeous hardware!), the Camel Duffle Coat by HI THERE FROM KAREN WALKER, or for some Yeezy vibes, I love the Megan Faux Fur Hood Oversized Parka from Boohoo.
LEATHER AND SHEARLING
While not technically coats, this season there are so many stunning leather and shearling jackets, I couldn’t help but include them! I love a good moto jacket, and this season, one of my favourites is this leather jacket from Seed Heritage. For a twist on a classic, I love this nude oversized faux suede biker jacket from Missguided or for an update on the classic aviator jacket, the MOTO Denim Oversized Borg Jacket from Topshop is the perfect addition to a casual, chic look!
